Deep Clean

Historic interiors and collections require regular conservation cleaning for their long-term protection and preservation. A deep clean varies upon the needs of the project but invariably involves a detailed and thorough clean to remove all dust and debris which could damage a collection and harbour pests. This can be but is not limited to; curtains, furniture, frames, bookshelves and decorative moulding.

We have a wide variety of equipment to reach even the most awkward of areas (and when we don’t have the right tool, we enjoy inventing new ones!). We have a range of different ladders, towers, vacuum extenders, and brushes that can be employed to remove dust from every surface.

All cleaning methods are non-invasive, using predominantly dry-cleaning methods with soft brushes, sponges, and vacuums. Where appropriate, wet-cleaning with water and solvents is applied with advice from our Conservation Specialists and in consultation with the client.

Undertaking deep clean offers the opportunity to survey an interior for any damage in areas not often accessed. We always indicate this to the client and we are also available for Condition Reports and Surveys  or recommendations to specialist Conservators
